I wrote a Botanize to Energize post on my substacks. It shows what I mailed and handed out. It also included 4 ways we could benefit from just taking some time to pay attention and enjoy our surroundings. I feel it can even help us feel more energized. https://thebutterflywrestler.substack.com/p/botanize-to-energize
which plant would you thank today? spruce conifers, gorse and broom ♡ we had an ecology field course collectingb our camera traps and sticky tape and we ended up foraging on these 3 beauties.
Hello there, I found a letter in Snuff mills. It travelled with me to Redland, and soon will depart to Knowle. The letter asked: If a nearby tree could speak, what might it ask from you?
A nearby olde Oak Tree would say:
"sap or blood, We be of one life-stream, ye and us. us pray thee, have care for ourn offspring and ourn friends, for it is by a mutual exchange that We live, the one by the other. ourn breathing is thy breathing; canst ye not see that We are the same? Yet us and ye have chosen to abide at different paces. ourn roots hold thy ground still at thy quickened feet, ourn branches cool the same…
My letter asked: How could your neighborhood become kinder to plants and biodiversity?
My answer: Fire danger has increased tremendously in my neighborhood, so xeriscape should be used more frequently. This does not mean NO plants, it means choosing the right plants to bring in the birds and bees, critters who live in our sage country native,. assuring that the taller plants are not close to a house. Be aware and observant to your outside world. It will speak to your best plant choices.
My question is If you thanked one plant today, which would it be and why?
Today, that plant is the dandelion (Taraxacum), they are so widespread and visible yet people are so divided in their either appreciation or hatred.
